Pre-workshop survey

  • The main purpose of a pre-workshop survey is to know your audience in advance of the workshop: their role, their research area, their workflow, and tools.

  • Ask questions that will help you ensure the workshop content is meaningful for the audience that will be attending. Select questions that provide actionable information to help customize your workshop for their discipline or workflow. For example, if you are showcasing examples of published research in your workshop, you can ask your participants which department they are affiliated with and select examples in the same field.

Gather RSVPs with contact information in advance of the workshop

  • Use an existing RSVP service through an institution or conference or a free service like Eventbrite.
